Here's a nice and desirable Horstmann-made US Foot Officer's sword. The "W. H. Horstmann Sons - Philadelphia" maker's etching is clearly visible upon the ricasso, as is much of the beautiful etching upon the blade. There is some pitting toward the end of the blade, The original wire is intact, but most of the sharkskin wrap has worn away. The brass guard is beautiful with a dark brass patina.
