Grenades were originally designed for use in Naval warfare. They were to be tossed down from rigging to the decks of opposing ships prior to boarding. Configured to have a detachable rear shaft and fins to balance the shell so that it fell on its nose plunger detonating the bomb. The surface is smooth and only a slight surface rust remaining.
