Here is your chance to own a true piece
of history. a New York State National
Guard uniform coat. Also known as the
Seventh Regiment and later the 107th
Infantry Regiment.
From its inception in 1806, as a
response to threats from the British
Navy to the bloody fields of France and
Belgium in 1918, the gray uniform has
been a part of its history. The National
Guards were the first to adopt the gray
uniform with black trim, accented with
three rows of nine brass New York
buttons. The name National Guards was
exclusively theirs from 1824 to 1862.
From the war of 1812 to its duty
during the civil war the National
Guards were ready to answer the call
of its country. Later it help quell the
New York draft riots and was most
notable in escorting Lincolns funeral
procession through New York City.
With the outbreak of hostilities in
1917, the Seventh regiment, was now
the 107th Infantry regiment, in the
54th Infantry Brigade, in the 27th
Division, "The New York Division."
Landing in France with 3700 men, the
Regiment attacked German strongpoints
at Mt. Kemmel and the Hindenburg line.
In the 29 September 2 day assault it
had 324 men killed, 874 wounded but
the unit succeeded in breaking the famed
Hindenburg Line and won four (4) Medals
of Honor, The coat, a WWI issue, is
missing one botton at the neck. There
are a several blemishes that time has
brought about, but overall it is in good
condition. This coat has been used, it is
not a warehouse surplus.(bs151)
