XIX Corps Badge, 1.25" silver corps badge. The XIX Corps served primarily in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region.   In 1864, two divisions were also sent to the Shenandoah Valley.

Created in December 1862, the XIX Corps was assigned to Maj. Gen. Nathaniel Banks and the Department of the Gulf. The Corps was in action at Fort Bisland, Irish Bend, the siege and assaults on Port Hudson, the Red River campaign (Mansfield and Pleasant Hill). It was also known for introducing black troops into combat, with the assault of the 1st and 2nd Louisiana Native guard on the northern reaches of Port Hudson's confederate defenses. In the Shenandoah Valley, the corps served under Gen. Philip Sheridan, in the 1864 Valley Campaign against Jubal Early. The badge has a straight pin attached to the back. The face has decorative filigree around the edge. This item came from the Doug Gardner collection. (kb15009) $375

Beautiful, 19th Corps badge. Made of silver it stands approximately 1 3/8" X 1 3/8". Back complete with functioning pin, also silver.  

The 19th Corps conducted operations in the Louisiana theater of operations; including the siege of Port Hudson, Lafourche campaign, Patterson and Irish Bend, Mansfield and Pleasant Hill, as well as the Gulf Coast. Later in the war the Corps was transferred to the Shenandoah Valley. (kb27502) $475
